How Do Factorypin Calculate Custom Pin Pricing?
Our pricing is based on a simple structure:
Material + Size + Quantity + Special Effects = Total Cost
The total cost usually includes:
- Mold Fee (one-time tooling charge)
- Unit Price × Quantity
Each custom pin is different. Design details, size, and production requirements can vary a lot from project to project.
To help you get a general idea of pricing, we have prepared standard reference prices below. These prices are based on zinc alloy material with enamel filling or standard printing, using 5–7 colors or fewer and no special effects.
If you would like an exact quote for your design, simply send us your artwork. We will provide a detailed price quote including every cost involved, with no hidden fees.

Soft enamel is one of the most common enamel pin processes. The metal lines are raised above the enamel color areas, creating a textured surface. It is cost-effective and has a relatively fast production time, which is why many lapel pins are made using the soft enamel process.
If you choose the soft enamel process, the pin price is the same across enamel pins, lapel pins, trading pins, and hat pins.

Hard enamel is another enamel process. The metal lines and enamel color areas are polished flat, creating a smooth surface with a refined, high-quality look. Because of its clean and premium finish, hard enamel pins are often preferred for collectible designs.
Similarly, no matter whether you are making enamel pins, lapel pins, trading pins, or hat pins, the pin price stays the same when using the hard enamel process.

Offset printing is a cost-effective printing method that works well for complex designs with gradients, small details, or many colors. The surface is covered with a clear epoxy layer for protection.
This process is commonly used for lapel pins and hat pins. The price is the same regardless of the final pin style.

Die-struck pins do not require enamel filling. The design is formed directly into the metal mold and then finished with plating. This creates a clean metal-only look.
Die-struck can also be combined with other enamel processes, most commonly soft enamel. Logo-style lapel pins often use this technique.

Special Effect
Special effect pricing depends on how many special colors you use. Each color is charged separately. For example, if your design includes red glitter and pink glitter, they will be charged as two glitter colors, not just one. Simply put, the more special colors you add, the higher the cost will be.
Not all special effects are suitable for every type of pin. Our representative will provide professional recommendations based on your design to ensure the best result.
