Custom Pin Size Guide
If your custom pin has a round shape, choosing the size is simple—the size refers to the pin’s diameter. However, most custom enamel pins have irregular shapes. In those cases, pin size is determined by measuring the longest side of your design, whether that is the width or the height. The 0.75″–2″ pin size chart below uses this measurement method.
Now that you know how pin sizes are measured, the next question is: which size should be chosen? The answer depends on how you plan to use your pin.
0.75″ – 1.25″: Ideal for suit lapels, company uniforms, and hats without weighing down the fabric.
1.25″ – 1.5″: Perfect for detailed designs, souvenir pins, and denim jackets.
1.5″ – 2.5″: Great for backpacks, lanyards, and statement collection pieces.
Pins larger than 2 inches are less suitable for everyday wear because they are heavier and more likely to come loose, so many customers choose to display them on a pin board instead. Custom pins under 2 inches are commonly referred to as lapel pins.

Custom Challenge Coin Size Guide
The standard sizes for custom challenge coins range from 1.75″ to 2.5″ with a 3mm thickness, offering a weighty feel while remaining portable and detailed. If your design requires cutouts or 3D details, we highly recommend choosing a size of 2″ or 2.5″ and above, with the thickness increased to 4mm. Large sizes like 3.5″ and 4″ are massive; their thickness must be 4mm or more, so please consider carefully before ordering.

Custom Medal Size Guide
2.5 inches to 4 inches is a very common size range for custom medals, with a thickness between 3mm and 8mm. If you strictly need a standard size for a medal, we would recommend a 3-inch medal size with a ribbon selected at 30mm wide and 1000mm long.
This size is not fixed or unchangeable. Generally speaking, medal sizes for major events like marathons lean larger, above 3 inches, and some can even go up to 5 inches. In this case, the ribbon width should be increased accordingly to 38mm. If it is a medal for children, the size can generally be between 2 inches and 2.5 inches, and the ribbon length is also reduced to 900mm. You can use the size chart listed below for reference.
For medals with complex designs, such as 3D, flip, or spinner effects, just like custom pins and custom challenge coins, we suggest choosing a size of at least 2.5 inches or above.

How to determine the size of a custom medal?
If your medal is a standard round shape, the size is based on the diameter. If it is not a round shape, the medal size is based on the largest measurement between the length and height.
The mold fee of a custom medal is actually related to the size, not the shape. So do not change your medal design into a larger round medal just because you worry that a rectangle or special shape medal will increase the price. This is usually not a good choice because you may pay more for a larger size without getting any real benefit.
Does the custom medal include the ribbon?
Yes, the ribbon is included in your custom medal order. The standard ribbons provided by our factory are usually solid colors.
If you need custom printed ribbons, full-color ribbons, or have special requirements for the ribbon material, there may be some additional purchasing costs. But normally, the extra cost is not very high.
When can I receive my custom medals?
The production time is around 2-4 weeks.
After you send us your design, our representative will confirm all details with you. The production artwork will usually be completed within 1-2 days. You can check the artwork and request modifications before production.
After the artwork is approved, the factory will start mold making, blank medal production, plating, coloring, quality inspection, and packaging. During the whole production process, your representative will keep you updated about the order progress, so you always know how your medals are being made. After everything is completed, express shipping usually takes around 3-5 days.
So if you have a custom medal project, we recommend contacting the factory at least one month, or even one and a half months before your event date.
